    John Hemans

Today just left us shaking our heads at the sovereign ways of God.

Yesterday we had come to the Morelos Barrio which is next to Tepita (probably the most dangerous area of Mexico City) to witness and arrange a meeting for today.
But God had other plans for today. When we arrived at the barrio it was just starting to sprinkle rain, and some of those who had said they would meet us today didn’t show up.
Two men did, and came with us up to the market area.
As we walked through the barrio past shrines to the “saint of the dead” I felt the oppression descending in the atmosphere. The enemy was obviously trying to thwart God’s plans. Then the heavens opened and rain began pouring down.
    Things were not looking good.

We headed for a big open shelter on the edge of the market to get out of the rain.
A policewoman was standing guard at the edge of the shelter.
I got out my guitar and decided to just free worship as a response to the oppression we could all sense.

This attracted the attention of some people walking by.
I sang one of my worship songs in Spanish, and that drew them in closer.
I could see out of the corner of my eye the policewoman edging closer. Then her partner appeared and so we had a little group of 6 people standing around me.
I gave my testimony and preached with Amy interpreting, and the presence of God just became stronger and stronger.

Two young men and a woman gave their lives to the Lord – I led them through the sinner’s prayer and then began prophesying over them.

The two police officers were watching and listening to all this and when we finished both officers asked for prayer.
As I began praying for them the Lord gave me prophetic words for each.
The policewoman had been an officer in this barrio (one of the worst in Mexico City) for 21 years, and her partner had been there for 12 months.

They were both touched by the Holy Spirit as we prayed, and I could see that the Lord was going to use these officers in transforming their barrio.

What the enemy meant for harm, the Lord turned into good, and we went home amazed at what the Lord does – His ways are higher than ours!
